Fraud Text Alerts

When your phone rings and you don’t recognize the number, do you answer it? Likely not. With the number of telemarketer calls we get today, the norm has shifted to ignoring any unknown calls, which has greatly reduced the number of responses to our fraud monitoring service, Falcon. That is why we are excited that we now offer suspicious transaction notifications through Fraud Text Alerts!

What are Fraud Text Alerts?

Similar to phone calls, these alerts will provide you with specific details of a transaction that Falcon may find suspicious. They will then ask you to confirm if the transaction was authorized or if it was fraudulent. Responding to these alerts allows Falcon to collect data to monitor fraud trends, which could potentially help prevent future fraudulent transactions.

The Fraud Text Alert message will include:

  • Transaction date
  • Last 4 digits of the card number
  • Dollar amount
  • Merchant name
  • Location

You will then be asked to reply to the message with “YES” if the transaction was authorized or “NO” if it was not. Authorized transactions will receive a second text confirming their card can continue to be used. Confirmed fraudulent transactions will receive a second text message with a time frame when Falcon will call the cardholder. If you have confirmed fraud on your card, you can request a new card order by calling (530) 668-2700, through Online Banking with secure messaging, or by scheduling a branch appointment.
