We are looking for someone who has experience managing all Accounting Department functions within a credit union and who has strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

The Accounting Manager will be responsible for accurate and successful completion of all Accounting Department functions and duties.  They will direct, coordinate and maintain an efficient and effective department to represent the proper financial position of the credit union and ensure financial records are in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, state and federal laws and NCUA requirements.  This individual will provide reports to the CFO and/or Senior Management regarding the Credit Union’s status for further analysis and decision-making activities such as policies, pricing, and services.

A summary of essential duties and responsibilities include but may not be limited to:

  • Efficiently and effectively manage accounting functions which include but are not limited to Accounts Payable, Bank and ATM reconcilements, ACH activity, General Ledger, certificate investments, GL postings, subsidiary ledgers reconcilements, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with financial and internal controls to safeguard the credit union’s assets from misappropriation and recommend new or improved controls and efficiencies.
  • Ensure the Accounts Payable function is kept current and disbursements are allocated to the correct account including proper authorization.
  • Ensure daily balance share (loan and share) analysis and daily cash position analysis are in balance.
  • File all regulatory reports by their deadline for the credit union and CUSO.
  • Assist in project management, implementing new programs/strategies, assist the CFO in overall objectives and goals of the credit union and accounting department.
  • Adhere to tax laws and regulatory compliance to properly reflect the financial position of the credit union.
  • Review and identify the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the credit union’s resources.

This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills required. Advanced MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), understanding of A/P, and account/ledger reconciliation.  Proven ability to load and manipulate data as well as strong analytical and problem-solving skills.  Must have high regard for detail, accuracy while working in a fast-paced environment under limited supervision.  Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, accounting reporting systems, and federal and state regulations.

Demonstrated problem solving, analytical skills, project management, and organizational skills are required.  Ability to use Microsoft Office applications as well as the ability to learn new applications.
