The Big Day of Giving (Thursday, May 7th) is a community-based event that encourages people to donate to local nonprofits and causes that matter to them. Why is this event so important? Many of these nonprofits are funded and run by the donations they get from people and organizations. In order to continue making a difference in the community, they need our ongoing support.
What nonprofits are participating in the Big Day of Giving 2020? There are over 600 nonprofits in the Sacramento area that you can donate to and many of them are based in Yolo County. To view a full list of Yolo County’s nonprofit organizations participating, click here.
Are there other ways to help? Yes – the organizers behind the Big Day of Giving 2020 have encouraged the community to “Spread Generosity” through awareness. They have created the “Spread Generosity Challenge” this year as a way to promote the nonprofits and causes you care about from your own home. Using your front porch, windows, or anything else out front, decorate and/or display illustrations of what causes mean the most to you. You and your family could enter your display by May 6th into their contest for a chance to award a $250 prize to a nonprofit of your choosing on May 7th. So, grab your creative caps, enlist your whole family, and help inspire others to participate in the Big Day of Giving! We hope you’ll join us in the Big Day of Giving tomorrow. Share with us on Facebook which nonprofit you’ll be donating or promoting for the BDOG and remember to continue to support local!
