International Women’s Day, to me, is a celebration of all that women have accomplished over the years. It helps bring attention to the inequality that women face, not just in the workforce but in all aspects of their lives. It is inspiring to work with such strong female role models because you get the opportunity to learn from those who are making a difference in this gender gap. I am grateful to have many of these role models by my side and want to share and recognize some of Yolo Federal’s female leaders.

Tell me what you love most about your job.

I so appreciate the diversity of talent that I get to work with, the opportunities we have to engage with our community, and the relationships we build with our members. I love seeing the positive results of working with members to help them save money, reduce debt, improve their credit score, or purchase a home. We have a unique opportunity to be part of some pivotal times in our members’ lives. I’ve worked at Yolo FCU for more than three decades, and I am still connected with members I’ve helped over the years. This truly is a rewarding career.

Why do you believe it is important to recognize and celebrate International Women’s Day?

Celebrating International Women’s Day helps to bring attention to the importance and value of gender equity and provides an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women who have made significant contributions to that movement.

Any advice you want to give to the young women out there?

Know your stuff—strive to be an expert in your role, work hard, and be the person that others depend on. Find a good mentor, take on a new challenge or responsibility when given the opportunity, share your knowledge to help others, and if you’re really good at what you do, be confident!

Tell me what you love most about your job.

I was born and raised in Yolo County and feel very fortunate to have a job that allows me to serve my community. I love being able to help our neighbors, friends, and family succeed financially. I also work with the most incredible team of people who come to work every day with the same mission and values as I do. Yolo Federal supports a culture of authenticity and ambition, which makes coming to work both fun and rewarding. No two days are ever the same!

Why do you believe it is important to recognize and celebrate International Women’s Day?

International Women’s Day is about celebrating women. Women have accomplished exceptional things, and that is something to celebrate. We should continue empowering women to be ambitious and make their voices heard.

That I get to work with and advocate for all levels of our organization.

Why do you believe it is important to recognize and celebrate International Women’s Day?

It’s important to celebrate and recognize ALL contributors in an organization, and women are no exception! However, I believe celebrating this day permits us to specifically acknowledge and recognize the huge strides that have been made by women in our workplace and communities. Raising awareness and celebrating the contributions that women have made and continue to make will help achieve more equitable representation EVERYWHERE. Recognizing International Women’s Day is celebrating the unique values, perspectives, determination, and creativity that women bring to the table.

Any advice you want to give to the young women out there?

Be kind to others, but especially to yourself.

Tell me what you love most about your job.

I’ve been here for over 20 years and love that I am able to make a difference every day. The credit union philosophy of “People Helping People” makes me feel good about what I’m doing. Working for a credit union can be a very rewarding and fulfilling job.

Why do you believe it is important to recognize and celebrate International Women’s Day?

Women can often be inspiring role models, but their voices may sometimes not be heard. I think it’s important to lift women up and acknowledge the difference they make in this world. Women should be celebrated for their contributions not because they are women but because they are compassionate, driven, smart, thoughtful, and often give wholeheartedly without expecting anything in return.

Any advice you want to give to the young women out there?

Be fearless, be ambitious, be a constant learner, and be okay with making mistakes along the way as long as you learn from them. Your passion for what you love and determination can get you far in life. You can achieve anything you set your mind to, but don’t forget to enjoy the journey.

Tell me what you love most about your job.

What I love most about my job is the people I get to work with. Both fellow employees and members of the community!  Also, every day is different, and I’m always learning something new.

Why do you believe it is important to recognize and celebrate International Women’s Day?

I believe it’s important to celebrate International Women’s Day to continue to bring awareness to the discrimination that happens and to get another step closer to successfully eliminate it.

Any advice you want to give to the young women out there?

My best advice would be to always do your best and not be afraid to voice your opinion.
