We have begun the process of reissuing all of our members’ debit and credit cards with a new chip card. This card will have a new look with new security! See below for answers to some commonly asked questions.
What is a chip card?
Chip Cards look like a regular debit and credit card, but include an encrypted microchip on the front of the card. A unique one-time code is generated to process the transaction and makes it difficult for fraudsters to use.
How do I use a chip card?
Insert the chip end of your card into the payment terminal. Keep the card in the terminal until you’re prompted to remove it. It’s that simple!
Can I still swipe my card?
Yes, your new chip card also includes a magnetic stripe on the back. If you encounter a payment terminal that does not have chip technology, you’re able to swipe it like you had been doing previously.
Why did I get a new card number?
The chip technology works best to protect your account if partnered with a new card number. We want your card to be fully protected.
Will my old debit card still work?
Your existing card will no longer continue working as of July 31st, 2017. We ask that you please activate and being using your new chip card as soon as you receive it. You can destroy your existing card, regardless of the expiration date that is listed.
